On Saturday, November 10, the Wisconsin Technology Initiative presents our annual collaborative learning experience, WTI Academic Forum 2012: Transforming Today’s Classroom.

During the session you’ll have the chance to explore advanced technologies in a practical, hands-on setting with peers from across the state. Come prepared to share the strategies and techniques that have helped you integrate technology into your classroom.

Learning Tracks

Our learning tracks will run simultaneously throughout the day. Choose the track that best matches your area of interest, position, and grade level (PK-5/6-12) and get ready for an exciting day of learning and collaboration.

LT1: Teaching With Technology — Session full

This learning track will focus on best practices related to digital classroom sites, collaboration tools and production tools.  Specific topics covered include:  Ipad apps,  podcasting, vodcasting, flipped classroom, Weebly, classroom blogging with Google, and Edmodo.

LT2: The 4 C’s: Communication, Collaboration, Creating and Critical Thinking

Our new generation of digital learners will experience learning beyond the classroom via collaborative learning networks and virtual communities. In this track we’ll learn about new technologies, curricular resources and strategies that will prepare our students for the future.  Specific topics include: web 2.0 tools, building online community (tools and strategies), the Khan Academy, WebEx conferencing tools and strategies to bring the world into your classroom.

In this learning track, we will look at and apply Best Practices and Interactive Notebook Strategies to your lessons with time for collaboration and support from the instructor and attendees. Educators will explore and share grade level and curriculum integration ideas, create lessons with SMART Response and have an opportunity to upload lessons to the SMART Community.

LT4: Administrator Track

Leading a digital district will be the focus of the Administrator Track. We’ll discuss emerging trends and necessary transformations to prepare our digital learners.  Specific topics will include: blended learning, SMART, distance learning, mobile devices/bring your own device (BYOD) or 1:1 programs, observation & evaluation of technology use and Cisco Academy. Participants will share best practices for integrating effective technology into their district infrastructure and achieving curricular visions.
